Faith & Five Guys
YU TU SABES |
It was a week full of ups and downs. That's usually how it is but it was especially a grind this week. All of our investigators that we found and started to teach have gone MIA. The entire week we stopped by their apartments and not one of them answered. Elder Rivera and I found 5 of these people two weeks ago and we were having awesome lessons. I mentioned the lesson we had with Yazmin last week and that's the last time we have seen her. We think we she got anti'd by her super Catholic Aunt and Uncle that she lives with. She has the Book of Mormon in her house though and knows the power of it so she, and all the other investigators, will come around one day!
On a more positive note, Ana and Angel had their baby boy this week! Angel actually called us to come stop by the hospital and say hi. So we took the opportunity to talk to them about eternal families. What's better than having a newborn and knowing than you could be with each other forever?! Before heading to the hospital, we got them a little gift. Two pictures framed, one of Christ and the other of the Nauvoo Temple. Christ, for them to remember that the family is best built on the teaching of our Savior. And the Nauvoo Temple for them to start making it a goal to enter in there one day and be sealed as an eternal family. It was a really fun experience. We get to their room and all of Ana's family is there. I thought to myself, "Oh boy, this should be interesting" while walking in. But as we sat down, the whole family knew exactly who we were! "Oh, you two are the missionaries that Ana has been talking about! They haven't stopped talking about church with us and how they want us to come with them!", Ana's mom said. It made us really happy to see that Ana and Angel have started to do their own missionary work in their own family. It was nice to meet all of them and sit and chat.
THE BEST part of the week though was just happening to run into Pedro at Five Guys! He was driving through Des Moines on his way to Chicago and just happened to have our number...weird how that happened! haha Was awesome to catch up on things, chat about both of our missions and receive some wise knowledge on how to deal with Hispanics from a Brazilian...classic Peh! Made my entire week. I love that guy so much!
The week ended in a great way. We got a text from President and Sister Badger on Friday night asking if they could come over and do companionship study with us the next day. Of course we said yes but we were not thrilled to head home a little early to go clean our apartment! haha Had to make our apartment presentable for the Badgers. But it was actually a really cool experience. Having the mission president over for a one-on-one conversation about the gospel was great.
President Badger shared these scriptures with us:
Mosiah 5:7,
"And now, because of the covenant which ye have made ye shall be called the children of Christ, his sons, and his daughters; for behold, this day he hath spiritually begotten you; for ye say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name; therefore, ye are born of him and have become his sons and his daughters."
and then Mosiah 8:18,
"Thus God has provided a means that man, through faith, might work mighty miracles; therefore he becometh a great benefit to his fellow beings."
Faith on His name, as Children of God, will lead to miracles!
Mucho amor,
Elder Christensen
