Instruments in the hands of God!
Hola Fam & Friends!
I’ll start off with the less than positive experience of the
week…Daylight Savings. We had NO clue that daylight savings was yesterday so we
did our normal routine, woke up at 6:30, once we figured out what was going on we sat and chilled. And with it
being Fast Sunday, we couldn’t even use the extra time to make breakfast, etc.
None of our clocks reset except for our phone…at 9:00 in the morning. So all
morning was spent dwelling on how we lost our only opportunity to sleep in…major L!
The start of the week was really slow and frustrating.
Tuesday we had interviews and then had to be in our apartments by 6:00pm due to
Halloween. Since interviews took most of the day, we didn’t have the chance to
find, teach or really do anything productive. Wednesday was about the same,
things coming up last second, so again not able to get done what we wanted. I
was getting pretty frustrated until we were able to meet with Pres. Ortega, the
branch president, that night. We explained to him about Luis’ situation and how
we thought it was time for the branch and the neighboring ward to get involved.
We came up with this plan for the Elders Quorum to come, buy supplies, and help
Luis on the outside of his trailer and then the Relief Society to focus on the inside and
help his wife, Crystal, with cleaning the house and donating clothes, etc. We
were really feeling good about this.
Next day, we get to Luis’ house and it seemed and looked
like a whole different house. Luis had cleaned up all the junk in the front and
on the porch and it felt like a different place. We were surprised and super
pumped. The next day, Friday, we were saying our comp prayer to start comp
study. We prayed for the Lord to continue to bless Luis and his family, help
them feel the spirit and love of the gospel. I kid you not, 5 minutes later, we
get a call from Pres. Ortega saying that he has found a job for Luis starting
the next day. We didn’t know what to do or what to think but we do know for
certain that it was a miracle from our Heavenly Father. Luis was obviously
super pumped as well and extremely grateful. Saturday we showed up to his house
to see the kids and Luis had continued his clean up by organizing his entire
shed, which had been overflowing, and the house was the cleanest I had seen. It
was amazing. I was watching the Lord’s hand at work right before me and it
was the coolest experience. Continue to
pray for them. Luis is down to his last cigarette and we need him to be done by
Thursday for him and his family to make their baptism date…it’s crunch time!
Everything else in the 515 (weird not saying the 801 tbh..)
is going well. Starting to get more and more confident with Spanish. Thank you
for all the love and support. Love you all.
Read Mosiah 27:36-37 We can ALL be instruments, (missionaries,
like my boys in ARG, Guatemala, Paris, Cambodia, TX, CA, PA …you get the idea!)
in the hands of God, bringing the truth of this Gospel and church to others!
GO UTES!
