Where's the Love?
Mis queridos!
What is up? Feliz dia
de San Valentín! Hope everyone enjoyed their dia de amor and all that cheesy stuff…
This week was pretty low key. All throughout the week we kept finding
ourselves with big gaps in between our scheduled appointments, and it happened
for like four days in a row. So that meant lots of knocking….hours on end, it
was a grind. But everything worked out for the best because we were finally
able to restart our pool of investigators. We were able to find a decent
handful of people who were interested and took our message openly.
One of the people was a lady named Yazmin. We found Yazmin on
Valentine’s Day after knocking for most of the day. Yazmin was the only person
that actually didn’t slam the door on us and was actually Hispanic! So double
bonus right there. haha But Yazmin is awesome! After going through the 1st
lesson with her, she did not hesitate to say yes when we invited her to be
baptized and told us to come back soon. We headed back to her apartment on
Saturday and she let us right in. As we were talking about the Book of Mormon,
she was loving every word of what we were saying. She was asking all these
awesome questions and then at the end she said, “I’ve never held in my hand
something like this before.” Was really cool to hear that see her face when we
told her that she can have the copy for herself for free. No better gift!
Sadly, she wasn’t able to make it to the church on Sunday, but things are
looking good.
We also had zone conference on Tuesday. It was a blast to see all the
homies again and catch up on things. The first thing Pres. Badger said as he
stood to welcome us was, “I believe that throughout today, we will be talking
and learning about eternal truths.” It was great to keep those words in the
back of my head as everything that was talked about was based upon faith in
Christ. Nothing more eternally impactful on us than our ever-growing faith in
Christ!
Sorry for the short letter. Hopefully by next week Elder Rivera and I
will have baptized all of the Hispanic population of Des Moines or
something..haha
Love you all…deficil es bueno,
