The grind continues
¿Que lo que mis amigos?
How do you knock on this door? |
The grind continues here in Des Moines! This week we saw all
of our investigators that we were excited to start working with either drop us
or ghost us. Sadly, they just weren’t ready for the Restored Gospel. Obviously I would do anything to continue to work with all of them but they have their
agency. They have all felt the spirit testify to them of the truthfulness of
this Gospel and have the key to happiness in their homes, The Book of Mormon.
Everything happens in the Lord’s time! Even if you don’t like it…I’ve learned
that the hard way. We’re still working with Jose Luiz and Omar though! Just
bummer new cause Jose Luiz is out of town for 2 weeks and Omar is only in town
Sundays and Mondays. So the work and progress is slow but poco a poco!
We were able to do some really solid work though. Talked to
a lot of people, got some return appointments and shared the Easter message to
whoever would hear it. Sunday night after Conference, we had some time before
dinner to do some knocking. That’s when we knocked in to Sandra, Catherine, and
Alex. A super humble and sweet family from El Salvador. Instead of sharing the
message of the Restoration right then and there, we just asked if they had time
for us to show a video about Easter. They invited us right in and Sandra (the
mom) was really touched by the video (if you haven’t seen it yet, go watch
it!). This lead into an easy transition from the video and reason for Easter to
the fact that He lives and His true church is back on the Earth and that it has
been restored by a Prophet of God. They loved it. They were all sitting around
listening and active as we all talked. Then the coolest thing happened. As we
invited them to pray about our message, Sandra right then and there, got the
kids, kneeled down, and without E. Rivera and me saying a word, started to
pray. Was so sick!
And what another amazing General Conference. President
Nelson dropped some bombs on us and changes that all encompass the aspect of
unity. As President Nelson said in the Priesthood session, it relates to
everyone, that we represent Him! And we have a divine mandate to support, to
teach, and to love. To strengthen together and more forward with unity.
It was a well needed 2 days, hearing from President Nelsen, the Apostles, and others.
Gave me a kick start to finish this transfer strong. And with the announcement
of all the new temples, the growth of the church is unreal. Here in Des Moines
the work may not be hastening as fast as we would like, but throughout the
world the Lord is hastening His work right before our eyes.
s/o to Jimbo and the big bday! One year closed to that
senior citizen discount! And my boys Nate and Dougie griding out there in ARG
and FRA and their bdays this week!
Love you all.
