Take Note on the News

¿Que tal cuates?

Another week flown by, and another transfer too. Elder Richardson and I are staying together as I finish training him here in Hampton. We’re excited for this transfer and set on getting a couple of baptisms. Just hoping and praying that they don’t fall through…again. But things are looking good. The work is great, the Branch is doing solid. The only bad thing is that it’s been 100 degrees with 80% humidity the past three days and only getting hotter as the week progresses. It’s going to be fun and I’m really looking forward to dying in the heat and humidity of the Midwest.

The week was great. Last p-day was on Wednesday so we had all day to have some fun. We and the other Elders nearby decided to go frolfing (aka frisbee golfing!) It was a blast but I’ll just stick with the sticks and regular golf. As we were walking back to the apartment, a news guy from the local news station stopped us and asked for an interview. Of course we said yes and it was pretty hilarious cause the interview was about the increase in gas prices and how it’s effecting our budget…So here were 4 guys, who don’t have to worry about paying for gas, making something up about worrying for paying for gas. Catch us on the nightly news though!

This Saturday, our man Daniel from last week got married to his girl from the Branch. It was funny to look around at all their friends and family and then two white guys in the middle of everything. Even got pics with the Bride and Groom! We left them with a print of one of Mom’s portraits of Christ and they loved it. We’re still just so bummed that they are moving, but yesterday at church we were able to find the closest Spanish congregation for them in their new town. I know that Daniel will get baptized someday so not tripping. Just wish it was here in Hampton.

Our investigator, Carolina, is still doing great. It’s so hard to explain how solid she is. She has the biggest desire to keep learning, get baptized (whenever the stupid papers come), and share the gospel with others. She was telling me at church that when we had left her house on Saturday, after stopping by her “husband’s” birthday party, a couple of friends asked who we were and what we were doing there. Carolina said she didn’t know what to do so she started teaching them about the Restoration. She’s a true missionary and just so awesome.

Last thing, we met this guy from the wonderful country of Guatemala on Sunday night. He invited us right in and we had a pretty solid convo. Half way in, we realized he had a BofM already on his table, and a little pamphlet from E. Rocha and E. Sitterud from a year ago! I was just so pumped to see that. His name is Hector, seems super cool, excited to start working with him. He even started playing the guitar and prayed at the same time…too long to explain but the funniest experience ever. A good prayer too!

Love you all so much.

Con amor,

Elder Christensen
