Tres Hombres

Elder Diaz-Pacheco!
Hi Everyone!
What a week we’ve had here in Hampton! Last Monday, we got a call from President Badger letting us know that Elder Richardson and I would be getting another companion! An elder from the Nicaragua mission. Due to all the crazy stuff happening down there, the church took all the missionaries out of the country. Elder Diaz-Pacheco was one of them. We drove down to Des Moines Monday evening and picked him up. Turns out that he’s only been out on the mission for 1 transfer so I’ll be training both E. Richardson and now Elder Diaz-Pacheco! The Trio Life in Hampton! Takes me back to the original days with McKanye and Sitterud. Good times! E. DP is great though. From Phoenix, Arizona, parents from Mexico, so he speaks some bomb Spanish. It’s going to be awesome to learn from him everyday. He also loves soccer so we’re on the hunt for some pick-up games on the streets…lol. It was a huge adjustment at first but the three of us are all getting along and all working together. Nothing better than that!
With all the change and adjustments, we saw a lot of awesome miracles and just some crazy “coincidences.” We have amazing members in the branch here and it’s hard to top Martha and her 10 year old son Isreal. Sunday morning, Isreal decided to call his buddy Arnold that was going through some tough family stuff, and invite him to come to church. He said yes and loved it! Arnold loves learning too and he might be the smartest 10 year old in the town. So because of that and wanting to learn everything, he took me from painting to painting in the church and was asking what they all meant. He especially loved Christ being baptized by John and said “Ooo I wanna do that! When can I?” Music to my ears!
Another quick experience. The 3 of us were knocking around town and we were finishing up talking with someone. We left this lady with a prayer but at the same time another lady was trying to get in to the apartment right next to us. When we started to pray she stopped fumbling with her keys and bowed her head with us. We finished, said bye to the lady we were talking to, and then we heard, “Are you guys the Mormon Missionaries?” Turns out that Angel, her name, is a member that hasn’t been to church in for a while due to lots of moving around. Her roommates walked up a little later and we started talking to them all. Angel happens to live with another less active member Felicia and her non-member husband Kyle. Buckets!! We set a return appointment for the next day, had a sick first lesson, and was awesome to see them at church on Sunday!
Lots more stuff happening in here in Hampton and it’s great! I love it here. The work is awesome. The church is still true. The book is blue. And yall better be reading it everyday.
Mucho amor.
Elder C
