Small step of Faith
What is up squad?
We had a pretty interesting and lowkey week here in Hampton. From last week to this week it was definitely a change of pace. The week was full of service and lessons…just a little time for contacting. Always good right?! Before the highlights of the week, we took another L with our awesome investigator, Jasmine. Jasmine is 11 years old and loves by one of the members that would always take her to church. She always loves it and has been really into reading the BofM. But with her being a minor we have to get the dreaded permission slip signed…and sadly, her mom shut it all down. We are super bummed and feel like we just can’t catch a break but it’s all good. We are praying hard that the same thing won’t happen with our other younger investigators, Arnold and Victoria.
Quick miracle that we have been able to watch unfold. At the beginning of our time together in Hampton, Elder Richardson and I found just an awesome couple named Maria & Junior. For a good month up until Mother’s Day we were teaching them and stopping by every Saturday. Mother’s Day passes and we just lose contact with them. Only thing we hear back from Maria is that she and Junior are splitting up and that she’s living in Clarion (another just random little ‘city’ in Iowa). After that, we heard nothing from either of them. Fast forward to last week. We randomly just try to text Maria again to see if we can stop by her place in Clarion (like our 4thtime trying to do so) But this time she texted back right away and told us to stop by again on Saturday at their place in Hampton! That was two weeks ago. Fast forward to Sunday, Maria, now back with Junior, finally made the decision to come to church and loved it. She said she felt a strong connection with the members. Coincidence? Never. Junior said he’s not a ‘church-going person’ so we are working with him on that. But Maria took that small step of faith to trust that this is what is best for her family. The Gospel blesses families and changes lives, and WILL bless Maria & Junior’s family and WILL change their lives.
I mentioned at the beginning how the week was full of service. In other words you could call the three of us pros at putting up siding on houses. We helped some members redo the entire outside of their house. The best part was that they let three clueless guys with zero experience whatsoever go to town on half of the house while they worked on the other half…we’ll see if it all stays together. haha Uncle Al might need to hire me when I get back!
Ya’ll better be reading the BofM every day. I witness the power of doing so every day on my mission….cough, cough Jayne & Kate.
Love you all!

p.s. transfer week…hope to stay in Hampton.
