Hungry for the Harvest

Squad, what is up?
Another busy, teaching filled, bucket-getting week here in the Loo! It’s hard to believe, and even see, but the work week in and week out is progressively getting better and better. A big s/o to the Man upstairs who is making all the magic happen. Scoresby and I are just having a blast together, hungry for that harvest. It’s fitting that all the corn is being harvested now and in the coming weeks, hopefully, we’ll be able to reap the rewards of another type of harvest by taking a few of our investigators for a swim!
Every person that we are teaching are just exact replicas of honest seekers of truth. Everyone of them comes from a completely different background and it makes it so so so fun to have a front row seat at the Gospel changing them. No matter where they are from, Liberia, Congo, or a cradle born Catholic, the Gospel has some life changing ability. Our man Brett put it in the best way possible. He was expressing some concerns about the commandments and started to make some excuses up that would’ve made it too hard for him to start following them right away, but he stopped and caught himself, then said, “You know when I started this I said I was going to be all in and change because that’s what the Lord is asking. So that’s what I’m going to do.”
What a stud! I learned so much from Brett when he said that. A perfect example for all of us.
I don’t think I’ve mentioned Katrina before, but Katrina is tight. How we found Katrina is crazy and just too picture perfect of a way. We ‘happened’ to be stopping by what seemed to be a dead-end part member family. As we were getting ready to leave, that’s when Katrina walked in and saw the Book of Mormon in our hands. She was hooked right away. We invited her to read it, pray, and come to church with us and she hasn’t missed a Sunday now for three weeks. She studied world religions in school and is super spiritual. After reading and coming to church, she has told us it all makes sense. She said she just “couldn’t believe her search has been right in front of her, her entire life” as she looked over to her dad, 40+ years less active member. She is awesome and the Relief Society is just taking her on.
Scoresby and I also had the cool and pretty whacky chance to go meet and teach an old FLDS follower. His entire family, but him and his two young boys, are members. With the help from a good friend of his in the ward, we have been trying to help him past his concerns and disagreements so he might have the chance to be baptized. Long story short, his biggest concern is the priesthood and how he believes that after the manifests ended plural marriage, every prophet after has been fallen and a lost prophet. But it’s so weird because he believes in the BofM, D&C, and Joseph Smith. It’s going to be a process and really tough, seeing that we are the 20th set of missionaries to teach him, at least according to him. So we will see. All I know is that we have a living prophet on the earth and the Priesthood will continue to fill every corner of the earth building the Kingdom of God.
Love you fools,
Elder Christensen
