Fisher of Men

My Man, Tallon

Hello!

Transfers rolled around yet again and I will be staying for six more weeks here in Waterloo! Scoresby and I are staying together and continue to dominating whoever challenges us in 2 v 2 and harvesting some souls at the same time. Nothing better than that! We are super stoked to stay and are excited for these upcoming weeks.

As for this past week, it felt like we were in the car for half of the time. Every day seemed like we were running back and forth to meetings and tracking our peeps down. So with all of that it was tough to see everyone this week at the best time for them. We were able though to still have some solid experiences and teach some really great lessons. We had a cool experience with Joseph while reading the BofM with him. We came across the verse, “And my father dwelt in a tent.’, one that we all just skip over and think nothing about. Well for Joseph, it was an awesome reminder and challenge for him to metaphorically do the same thing as Lehi. Lehi left everything he owned, all of his worldly possessions, and followed the directions from the Lord that led to him going from having everything to nothing (i.e. living in a tent) The Spirit touched his heart and we challenged him to do the same: to place God and the Gospel of His son first in his crazy and hectic life. Now just give us 2 weeks and we’ll finally get it through his thick African head!

As for our good FLDS friend, Jerold…we had a sick lesson with him. Now Jerold is an awesome guy. Super knowledgeable, loves talking about the Gospel, and actually pretty normal (so not crazy believing and practicing polygamy or anything like that). So that makes our lessons pretty deep, a lot more than usual lessons. I even brought my big “Saints” book out and shared with him and awesome passage from that. There is no way he didn’t feel the Spirit because I definitely did, legit had my hair standing up on my arms and goosebumps the whole time. For Jerold it all just comes down to whether or not Pres. Nelson is a Prophet of God. This whole process has been too perfectly timed to not have divine power play the entire role in this. The timing of everything is no doubt, by divine design. When Jerold told us that determining whether ‘Big Russ’ is a Prophet or not would be a huge factor. I asked him, “What if you could hear from him live, along with all the other Apostles this upcoming weekend?” He responded, ”Pretty much everything. It would answer almost everything for me.” No joke guys! So send some prayers up for Jerold! He is so so so close.

I think a couple weeks ago I said, “Work hard, play hard, right?” Well in the middle of the craziness of the week, Scoresby and I made the wisest purchase one can make by buying 20+ goldfish from Walmart one night. Just picture two missionaries with a big ol’ bag of goldfish...LOL  Well we took those 20+ goldfish to the other Elders’ place and filled up all their tubs, sinks and toilets with water and 20 new friends for them to come home to! We may have started a turf war but it was hilarious to hear their reactions.

WATCH CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND!!

Mucho love,

Elder Christensen
