Ay yo!!
Man, I keep losing track of all the weeks out here. They just fly by like it’s nothing…kinda like how I’m losing track of how many years it’s been since BYU beat Utah in football…Seems like almost half my life! But oh boy! Go Utes baby!!
I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving. Ours over here was one to remember. A Marshallese family in the ward signed up to feed us but then told us were just going to eat at a dinky old Chinese Buffet…to say the least, we were not too excited. So we took the responsibility to make Thanksgiving dinner into our own hands and convinced this family to cook a turkey and we would do the rest. Elder Littlefield loves to cook so he figured everything out and put us to work. It turned out great and our Chinese buffet Thanksgiving dinner turned into a bomb, homecooked Feast. Then the next 3 days at members houses they fed us Thanksgiving dinner part 2,3, & 4 so no complaints over here!
Our week was solid, even with all the crazy holiday season stuff that threw everyone off for a bit. Lots of work done and it’s great to see some fruits of our labor coming our way. Earlier in the week we had out man Pierre over to the church for a church tour. We don’t know why we did it because he had already been to church but we felt a strong urge to still do it. Pierre is a tad crazy when it comes to genealogy, like a little overboard with some of his ideas. But we knew that he would love seeing the Family History Center. When I showed him my family tree he was shocked to see so many of my ancestors linked to me. He was super pumped to start and “take ‘em to that Nauvoo place”. When we walked through the chapel we asked how he was feeling. And his response was so genuine, “I feel connected” he said. We asked him what he meant by “connected” and he said, “When you’re connected, you feel God’s love. You feel like you’re a part of anything and everything.” How lucky are we to always have that connection! Don’t take it for granted.
The rest of the week was busy, busy, busy. We are focusing in on Samuel and Katrina, the two that will be getting baptized soon. We woke Samuel up for church by playing the ukulele which his mom sat there laughing so that was pretty funny. And Katrina is in the process of finally shaking this illness she has had and quitting smoking and coffee again, so send those prayers up for her this week! Best part of the week though happened when we just randomly stopped by a family that we’re teaching. We get there and sit down and the mom is watching the news. A couple of minutes pass and this news story comes up and who is getting interviewed for the story on holiday travel in the airport?! The one and only, pretty boy, Blake Moore!! I was dying and was going crazy. I stopped the whole conversation we were having and told Collene to rewind it. I was literally jaw dropped to see Blake come up on the local TV station in Waterloo, Iowa…what?!
Love you all so much! Grateful for every single one of you. #IluminaelMundo!!
s/o to Katia for the big birthday on Saturday! 18?! Oh my goodness…
