¿Que lo que cuates?
Another poppin’ week here in the Loo! Elder Jarvis and I are getting right down to business and things are clicking left and right. Winter also decided to come early so we have had a nice 3 inch layer of snow on the ground since Friday. And with that, temps have dropped superrrr low so we are out here looking fly as ever bundled up in our five layers....still walking and talking through it all so everything is bomb.
We had a pretty jam packed week starting with MLC on Tuesday, then headed straight to a “throw down” type of lesson with our friend, Bro.Jones. Patiently, we’re still working with Bro.Jones and to be honest, at times I’m not sure even why we still are. But heading into the lesson, I was reminded of all a the experiences that led up to this entire thing. Too many to list and too crazy to explain. So with that in mind, we’re still grinding with him knowing that the Lord is literally preparing him before our eyes. Our lesson went well, and was able to get down to all the nitty gritty about everything. The Spirit opened his mind and heart to earnestly seeking for the path we should take. His obvious hold up, being from a FLDS background, is the Priesthood...that his church doesn’t have it. The Church doesn’t have it and he has no answer to where it is. We got him going on things to do and we’re not quite giving up on him yet. He needs the push and we are very happy to do it. A little side note, through all of this, I am eternally GRATEFUL for the priesthood on the earth, to be able to be a very, very small instrument in God’s hands with it. It’s a sacred obligation and bottom line is, if you don’t think the whole idea of having it, working under it, and seeing that Power of God first hand is nothing but amazing and life changing, then you gotta check yourself, because it is.
The rest of the week was filled with appointments and running around finding people like crazy. We’re still trying to get Elder Jarvis all situation with the area and all the homies we’re teaching. We were able to meet up with our man, Pierre. For the last 2 weeks it was tough to see him due to some health issues, and last weekend we even lost complete contact with him. Thankfully, all is well though with him and he still has that fire to learn. He loves getting answers to his passionate questions, gospel related or not. Just a quick little background on him...he’s 70, black man from Chicago, and loves talking about race of course. I’ll let you come up with the rest...haha! Our latest discussion after we taught was why all the pictures in the Book of Mormon are of white people and none of “his darker people”. Try explaining that to a passionate black man. It’s pretty fun! That led into a whole other discussion on what race Jesus was ....oh boy! That was even more fun! Gotta love it though, at least he’s actually reading the Book of Mormon.
Last thing is that our man, Jimmy, came to church! He took that step of faith, walked through the doors, and loved sacrament meeting! He had to bounce right after though to go pick up his mother in-law but was grinning and came up to me, gave me a big hug and said, “yeah, the Spirit is definitely here. I love it.” Excited for him to get his wife, Lonnie, there next week.
Have an awesome Turkey Day! I am grateful for every single one of you and your support and love. I’m grateful for this work. It’s true. Grateful for the Book of Mormon (that’s true too) and living day Prophets and Apostles leading and guiding us. And I’m even grateful for Iowa!
Love you all!

P.S. And of course I’m grateful for dem Utes!! Go Utes Baby! Am I smelling roses?
