The Allison Boys...the REAL MVPs

What up y’all?

I have no idea where to start from this week. Overall, it was pretty whacky and just flew by. A lot of solid stuff going down, sweet lessons with our homies, and a dope regional broadcast that included the one and only Elder Jeffrey “RayBanz” Holland. But again, some bummer stuff went down as well. Seems to be following me at this point….After our great experience with Katrina and helping her quit tobacco and coffee, she was two days clean and her blood pressure plummeted and her entire body broke out in this rash. Apparently, a side effect of the medication she is on. Before all of this, she had talked to her doctor about quitting and he said not to quit all at once. But she was dead set on trying so she could make her date (her birthday). So after being clean for only two days, her body just freaked. Sad to see someone’s body so used to and reliant on nicotine and caffeine. But bottom line, she needs to do this gradually so the soonest she can be baptized is the New Year.

But you already know we balled out no matter what. Literally. Always too many positives and dope experiences to write about. The past couple weeks the four of us have been trying to get some of the teenagers we’re teaching out having fun with the members. So outside of being real and being homies with them, we started to play ball Thursday nights with them and the members their age. This past Thursday was sick. I wish I got a pic but we had a squad there. Half of the boys there were non-members, kids that we are teaching. We even got Samuel (my fake adopted Haitian lil bro I’ve always wanted)  and another Haitian boy that’s a member hooked up to start chilling. It was super sick to see some fruits come out of it and it is only the beginning. And you already know that we were out there getting nothing but buckets! YUP!

LIVE with our boy, Jovon
The past couple weeks we’ve been teaching a dopeee Africian-American couple named Jimmy and Lannie. Solid peeps. Jimmy basically described to us that he’s just been lost his whole life when it comes to God’s church. We introduced them to the BoM and they just went to town. They love it and are full of questions about it. Dream come true. Last Monday, we taught them the Plan of Salvation. I came out of that lesson with a certainty that the Plan of Salvation, in its fullness, holds the keys to eternal joy and love. Teaching Jimmy and Lannie, I could see the light start to fill their eyes as we talked. And the happiness from receiving answers to life-long questions. And the cherry on top when they stopped scribbling notes and references and looked up to us in awe when we explained how they could be sealed as a couple, and family, for all eternity. Nothing beats that! It was so legit.

Loving life. The Church is true. Elder Holland said in the area broadcast, “Today is a good day to be a member of Jesus Christ’s church, but yet it always has been.” And it always will be SO keep with it, join it, and enjoy it!
