Happy December Squad!

We had a pretty solid week. We had a couple tender mercies ... started with being able to see both my boys, Elder Richardson and Elder Diaz-Pacheco! Things lined up so perfectly that I saw Richardson in Iowa City, then Diaz-Pacheco when we were on exchanges in Des Moines. It was so solid to see them both! My man Samuel is looking solid for this Sunday to get dunked! He’s getting excited and is always talking about it when we’re over. I can sense a little bit of nervousness from him about it but we just calm him down and do our thing. It’s also been really cool to see his mom start opening up to us. Her name is Yguette. She’s alway loved us and loves Samuel learning about Christ but has always blown off our invites to church. She literally does nothing on Sundays and just chills at home. Super frustrating, but the past two weeks she has been showing more and more interest. You can tell she is excited for Samuel and is planning on coming to church next Sunday for his baptism. We’re just not going to tell her that his baptism won’t be until later in the night so she can be there at church...haha! We gave her her own copy of le Livre de Mormon tonight. It’s the first time she’s accepted one! We’ll now let the Book do it’s magic.

Earlier in the week, we had a cool sit down with a referral we received. His name is Grant and he is our age. Right when we got there, the three of us clicked. It definitely made a difference to Grant to see guys his age coming to see him. He took it upon himself to figure out his purpose in life. He did his research and determined he needed a Book of Mormon to help with his search. At first, he was really hesitant. He lives with his family at home and didn’t know how they would react. By the time we left, you could tell a night and day difference in his confidence, his desire, everything, as he clutched the Book of Mormon in his hands. He gets its. He said he needs this. Now time for him to act.

Send up prayers for Katrina! She is SO close to quitting but is so hesitant and nervous that when she quits, something will come up and bring back this nasty illness she has had. A legitimate concern and we are walking a fine line to help her get past this. We shared a scripture from Moroni 7. In verse 33 it says, “If ye will have faith in me he shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.” This totally applies to Katrina and her situation and really applies to to any of our situations we are going through. If we have faith, we will have the power to push through and Christ will advocate for the rest. Bomb.

‘Tis the season! #LighttheWorld!!!

Besos,

Elder Christensen
