Cold Weather, Warm Font
Kelly's Baptism |
pre-baptism dinner |
Well the cold came fast... a week and a half ago we were walking in short sleeve shirts and now we are bundled up trying to stay somewhat warm in the humid, negative degree temperatures. You gotta love the Midwest! But even when you're freezing your butt off, you're still having a blast! The week in general was average at best. Lots of meetings and planning for this upcoming transfer so that took up most of the week. But even when we are packed full of things to do, you can always rely on the Big Man Upstairs to hook it up. So with that, we definitely had some awesome highlights from the week!
First, KELLY GOT BAPTIZED!!! It was so so so fun! Everything went so well, the Spirit was so strong, and Kelly was just glowing the whole time. She had asked me to baptize her and it was such a cool experience! Being in that water with someone who is sincerely following the Savior's footsteps is unforgettable. As we were in the font, we were waiting for the witnesses to come up. I was expecting it to be two other missionaries, or at least that's what I was hoping... then President Badger and our Bishop step up. And in my mind I was just telling myself "DO NOT MESS UP. GET HER ALL THE WAY UNDER" etc etc. But you know me, always coming through in the clutch so there was no worries there ;)
With everything going smoothly and seemingly like nothing could get better, Emily's dad, John, and grandma, Linda, expressed sincere interest in learning more! They both have been consistently coming to church when they are open every other week and have experienced both Emily's and Kelly's baptism. The members love them as well so it's literally a perfect situation. Finally at church, I approached them and told them it's time to get down to business and get them going. We'll be working with them and helping them both get on the path towards that font! Team Jesus stays winning. Eternal families always taking those dubs.
Earlier in the week, we were on exchanges and I was with a total homie. His name was Elder Judy. Randomly, we stopped by one of our peeps we had just started teaching. Her name is Lauren and she is just in a little fragile situation with things happening in her life. When we stopped by, she was almost in tears and expressed how she felt that she wasn't good enough, no one loved her, there was no point in her living, etc. And let me just tell you how awesome it was to talk with her and testify of God's love to her. And most importantly, help her realize that Jesus Christ atoned for every single one of her bad feelings and through Him, she can be freed from all those chains holding her back. Her whole mindset and countenance just changed. I was bummed to not see her at church, but that will change soon! Needless to say, it was one of those experiences that I'll never forget.
A scripture I shared with Lauren... take a peek. 1 Peter 4:12-14. FUEGO.
Mucho love! Take Note.
