Insane Amounts of Faith
Looking out where the Saints crossed to start their journey west! |
Squad,
Happy April!! Crazy that another month has come and gone. No idea where the time is going!! We're making the most of it over here though. Elder Matthews leaves in a couple weeks so we're really trying to finish it out strong. Saturday, we were able to head down to Nauvoo again to do baptisms with Emily and Kelly! They really wanted to experience Nauvoo and it always lives up to the hype. We were able to baptize and confirm a bunch of their family names that they have found so it was a really special experience. Quick note - on our way out, I drove down the same street the early Saints walked down as they were forced out of Nauvoo. The road ended as it went straight into the Mississippi River. This is where they crossed to start their journey west. Standing there looking across this massive river, there is no possible way a body of water, that big and flowing that fast, could of froze solid overnight allowing them to leave. Only God could've done something like that. It was a very surreal experience.
Throughout the week, we were able to see some incredible miracles. Tiana was able to quit smoking completely, no cravings, no patches, nothing, in less than 4 days. She is dead set on being baptized on the 20th and is getting more and more excited as it gets closer. Her entire family, herself included, were so surprised that she was able to quit so fast and easily but really, it all makes sense why. In the past, she had quit before and struggled with it. But this was the first time she called upon God to help her follow His Son and be baptized. So obviously, if she put in the work to fulfill this righteous desire, He would make a way to fill in the gaps and make it a reality, not just a wish.
Jose and Susy are still doing amazing as well! Last week, Jose was able to make it to church after unexpectedly getting work off for the day. Later Sunday afternoon, we got a text from him saying "I want to be baptized. What do I have to do?" Like okay. We knew that it was going to happen but we really had no way to help them progress towards an actual date due to Jose working on Sunday most of the time. Tuesday, we went over to talk to him more about it...well we thought we were going to, but they pretty much had it all figured out. They knew that it was all up to Jose's work. So they were even saying that if he wasn't able to get Sundays off at the place he is at currently, he would quit and find another job that would guarantee him weekends off. The amount of faith one needs to do that is insane to me. That is literally dropping everything to follow Jesus Christ and this gospel. TAKE NOTE! Susy also mentioned that she wanted Jose to be baptized first, that way once she is able to comfortably bring the baby to church with her in a month or two, he would be able to baptize her! So cool! They surprised us again when we saw them both at church! Baby Stacie even slept through all of church as well. Miracle!! If work keeps cooperating with Sunday, Jose will be getting dunked soon!!
Last thing, E.Richardson and I were able to go on exchanges with each other. Papi and Son reunited once again!! It was such a fun day. It was rainy and windy the whole time which kinda wrecked our plans, but it was just so solid to be with him again. We found some awesome people to start teaching so hopefully we'll be able to get something going with them.
ENJOY CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND!! Wonder what could be coming this time...
ENJOYING TO THE END!
