20 Months

Fam & Friends!
A little over 2 years ago I received that white envelope in the mail calling me to be a missionary for our Savior Jesus Christ. Accepting that call has been the best decision of my life! Today also marks my 20th month in the field! Pretty hard to describe how it feels. I wish I was this genius and amazing writer to come up with some cool expression and description but I'm not. To sum up these 20 months, I'll just say 'old'...it makes me feel old.
The week was especially full of some ups and downs. It always is but this week was a grind. We learned on Wednesday from Jose that he would not be able to be baptized this upcoming Saturday. This came totally out of the blue and I had no idea how to react. He had just started his new job and it seems like it has been pretty crazy busy for him. Then you throw his crazy home life into the picture with a new baby, and I'm sure you get one exhausted and worn out dude. That's at least what we were hoping that it was. Then we got a text from him on Sunday afternoon saying that they won't be coming back to our church and how suddenly he's back to being a die hard catholic and sticking to his roots, totally denying all that has happened these past couple months. A real tough pill to swallow. God has His timing and His way and I know when it comes down to it, it will all work out!!
On a much brighter side, Carla is looking good to still take a plunge on Saturday! She really is just so awesome. Everytime we are with her, she is just so in tune with the Spirit that it makes our job a whole lot easier. Every principle we teach her you can just tell that the Spirit is just testifying to her that it's true. She is gonna be one happy lady once she receives the Ghost permanently! On Saturday we had an amazing lesson with her. We invited the Badger's to come along with us to teach tithing and fast offerings and also relating the temple into it all. Of course, everything just clicked for her. Having two spiritual giants like President and Sister Badger was pretty legit too. Sister B just totally bonded with Carla right off the bat and Pres just did what he always does and dropped some knowledge on us. It was so cool. We were just there for moral support. She is so stoked to be able to participate in the growth of the Kingdom and would not be surprised if she pays fast offering today. What hit her the hardest though was talking about the temple and how paying our tithing leads us there. She has the biggest desire to be sealed to her husband that has passed away and is so pumped to start doing that work. You could say she's pretty dope.
We also started working with a mom and daughter that are originally from Romania! How cool is that?? There are neighbors of the Ortega fam in the Spanish branch! Presidente Ortega took them to church a couple weeks back and now they'll be coming with us! *cough cough do your member missionary work*
Also heard that Katia has just been kicking some butt this year, SHOOTING A 79 WHAT?!?! So Clark and I had to shake off some rust and hit the links for our pday to get me ready for her come August...
Love all you homies!
