Prepare for a Mission
Squad up... Iowa City here we come! |
Whaddup Whaddup Whaddup!
Hope you all had just a wonderful week like we did! This one will be a quick one but will surely not disappoint. We had a solid week of zone conferences. Always such a good time to be with everyone in the mish. Elder Clark and I were able to train on embracing adversity. We based it off of Lavell Edward's talk he gave way back in general conference. It's titled "Prepare for a Mission" and I would encourage all you guys to check it out. It took all our strength to stand up there and tell everyone that we were basing our training off a talk given by BYU football coach. We embraced that trial though and pushed through it...
Sadly, Adriana and Bianca weren't able to make it to church. We got a text from Adriana 20 minutes into sacrament saying that she was stuck in bed. She has some medical probs. So after church, we went with the Sisters to introduce them to her. We'll be starting to team teach them until we leave for Iowa City in 2 weeks. We'll for sure be coming back to see her baptism. At the end of the lesson, we mentioned that the Sisters will help her get to that point of being baptized. At that moment, she perked up and asked "I will do it. When is the next scheduled baptism that I can be apart of?" So that's pretty sick.
Quote of the week comes from Adriana: "I can trust dogs who don't like people but I don't trust people that don't like dogs." amen.
On this Memorial Day weekend, a big s/o to all the Vets and to the early pioneers that I've learned so much about by serving in Iowa. Remember FREEDOM AIN'T FREE, all freedoms come at a great cost!
....one last thing, a little PSA for everyone back home: Whenever you cross paths with Kate Christensen you are crossing paths with AN ALL STATE GOLFER. Yupppppp you heard that right! If I wasn't nervous enough already to come home and face her, now I really am. So be careful when you take her out to play (@blake @will), cause she might just beat you and take all your money. Just ask my dad! I taught her all the tricks in the bag ;)
Lots of love!

note from the editor: this past Sunday in our YSA ward, Jim was interviewing Leo, new to our ward and attending with his cousin, Eduardo. He introduced himself by saying he was from a tiny town in the midwest called Hampton Iowa. You can imagine our excitement knowing that Scott served there last summer. Well both, Leo and Eduardo had heard about Elder Christensen and the trio he had served in. Eduardo even remembered a photo that his mom had sent him of his little brother, Isreal, and the missionaries after his championship baseball game. We sent Elder C this picture and he immediately responded back, "That's Martha's son! Martha is one of the greatest members I've met on my mission." We are grateful for the opportunity to give a back a little to Sosa family who were so good to Scott while he was in Hampton.
