Look for God
My man, Deme |
Fam y Friends...
First, do my boy Demetrio a solid and check out his clothing line... eternalstreetwear.com. He's doing big things over here in the Land of Corn. Make him big over there in the 801!!!
YA BOYZ ARE BACK AT IT AND OH DOES IT FEEL SO GOOD. Moving is done, no more boxes to carry, and we are finally settled here in Iowa City. And let me tell ya, Iowa City is sooooooo chill. Obviously school is out so there aren't a ton of students but I'm digging the feel of this place. Plenty of work to be done in 2 months so your boy is not ready to come home quite yet!! We'll be grinding until the last day. Our ward is pretty dope too as far as I can tell. Seems like they're down to do the work and get to it, which is music to our ears. For the time being we're sharing the ward with some of the GOAT's of the IDMM, Elder Orme and Elder Ostergaard. It's gonna be a good ol time.
Saturday we finally had time to get out and hit the pavement. Wowza. Greatest feeling ever. We talked to a shirtless Vietnamese man named Boo. Turns out Iowans aren't the only people who are totally fine walking out in public shirtless, even if they're overweight. Boo falls under that category. He hooked us up with the best Vietnamese restaurant in Iowa City so we are set. Also had a more spiritual experience besides Boo, just a total miracle and God placing people into our paths. A lady was out carrying her groceries in so we went on over and offered to help. She politely declined but staying out and talked with us. It did not seem like she was going to be down but as we kept on just talking with her, she opened up. The usual Spirit working it's magic. It never gets old. Our girl Jeanie ended up telling us she's in need of guidance in her life, she prays a lot, doesn't attend a church at all, but is looking for one where she can feel rejuvenated for the week, peace, and all the good stuff. We left her with a prayer in which we heard some sniffles. Always a tender moment. Clark and I walked away and both looked at each other and said at the same time, "She's the one." Comp unity.
My testimony of God in the small details of our lives has grown exponentially in the past 3 weeks. Even without doing typical missionary work, Elder Clark and I listed all the miracles that we saw. It was crazy to see everything just line up perfectly in the midst of craziness. Here's a partial list we came up with. Might not seem like a whole lot to you, but these were literally heaven-sent miracles sent our way to keep us from going too crazy:
Transfer planning - took a lot less time than usual, none of the leadership changed last minute, everything just fell into place. Gave us a lot more time to get everything ready.
Transfers -
1) Everything went totally fine. No hickups. No problems. Perfect.
2) The newbies of the mission didn't forget anything. They usually forget something and that causes a lot of unnecessary stress. Huge miracle.
3) After losing the car keys on Transfer Day morning, we found the car keys in the truck. Every single door was locked except the drivers side door. No idea how that drivers door was not locked. Would've thrown everything off.
Moving to Iowa City-
1) PB (President Badger) called and told us there would be pro movers coming and moving the big stuff for us. Original plan was for us to move everything which would've been about 7+ trips back and forth for us from DSM to IC.
2) Getting the key to our IC apt on Saturday. Office wasn't open on Saturday. That means the movers couldn't get into our apt and put all the big stuff into it. Somehow, our landlord pulled some strings and got our key for us. HOMIE. Saved us a bunch of stress.
3) Elder Loeak stayed an extra day before taking off to Marshall Islands. So that means he could help us move. He came in clutch with moving a lot of heavy and bulky stuff.
And in the middle of all this mess, somehow both Roland and Fabian came to church along with Chance and Chase.
Look for God in your life and you will see Him.
MUCHO LOVE.
