Homies.

Let's start off with a nice little story... A member family of 5 had us over for a nice dinner on Saturday night. They have 3 kids spanning from 10 years old down to 3 years old. We finished up dinner and went into sharing a spiritual thought with them. Elder Richardson volunteered to play a little game with the kids to make it their very own spiritual thought. It's a game we all know of and it works probably 95% of the time. The odds are in our favor right?! Elder Richardson asked the 10 year old to pick a number between 1 and 15 (representing the 15 books of the Book of Mormon). He said 4. The 4th book if the Book of Enos. It has only 1 chapter so then he asked the little 3 year old to pick a number between 1 and 27 (the number of verses in that chapter) and she said 20. They were stoked to see what scripture they had picked. Enos 1:20 says, "And I bear record that the people of Nephi did seek diligently to restore the Lamanites unto the true faith in God. But our labors were vain; their hatred was fixed, and they were led by their evil nature that they became wild, and ferocious, and a blood-thirsty people, full of idolatry and filthiness; feeding upon beasts of prey; dwelling in tents, and wandering about in the wilderness with a short skin girdle about their loins and their heads shaven; and their skill was in the bow, and in the cimeter, and the ax. And many of them did eat nothing save it was raw meat; and they were continually seeking to destroy us."
Halfway through the scripture I was dying!! I could not hold in my laughter. And neither could Elder Clark or the mom and dad of these kids. Was literally the funniest thing ever. Here we are, sharing a scripture to 3 innocent, little kids about wild, ferocious, blood thirsty, and naked Lamanites who are trying to destroy the righteous people in the land. Maybe one of the funniest moment of my entire mission.

Along with that, things are looking up! Transfers passed so now I have the 3+ weeks left to just grind and get down to it. This boy ain't going down without a fight. We have some solid stuff going for us in the area so I'm gonna make the most out of it. The bummer part though is that it's gonna be a long shot to see another baptism of someone that we're teaching while I'm still out here. As long as they get tized and get the Ghost that's all that matters though. We had a shot at getting one or two if they would've shown up to church today but we came out with no luck. One of those Sundays.

Cool story though. One of those people that we were hoping of seeing at church was a girl named Jaliyah. She's a 17 year old who had been working with the other Elders. Lately, she's been super shakey, not really solid at all. Saturday on a quick exchange, Elder Ostergaard and I stopped by just to kinda hit the reset button with her. We laid it out there for her, made some expectations, and felt pretty solid about her going forward. She bailed on church the next day so that was a L but she sent us a text later in the evening after hearing nothing from her the whole day. She told us how she had prayed about a date for August 28 and how she has committed to coming to church every Sunday and start the lessons again. It was nice to see the turn around. Hopefully she'll keep her word and we'll do our part. She has a big ol' family so it's going to be an awesome way to get in the door with them.

Enjoying to the end!!
